CHUCK NORRIS WASN’T AT U.S. CAPITOL RIOT: MANAGER
NEW YORK (AP) — There is now a somewhat bizarre twist to the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last week. Some people looking at images of the riot say a person who looked like Chuck Norris was among the invaders. Photos of that man have been have been circulating — and trending — online. Now, Norris’ manager is kicking down those claims. Erik Kritzer tells The Associated Press the man in the photo is not the “Walker, Texas Ranger” star. The manager says Norris has been in Texas with his family. The manager acknowledges the man in the photo does resemble Norris, but adds, “Chuck is much more handsome.” In 2016, Norris supported Trump’s presidency.
RADIO OWNERSHIP GROUP DEMANDS END TO “STOLEN ELECTION” TALK
NEW YORK (AP) — Knock it off — or be fired. That, in effect, is the order being sent to staffers at hundreds of radio stations in 86 markets across the country. The order has been sent by Cumulus Media, which is ordering its on-air personalities to stop giving air — and air time — to debunked claims that President Donald Trump had the election stolen from him. The order says anyone who violates the “zero tolerance” policy could be fired. The memo was sent last Wednesday, the day pro-Trump rioters overran the Capitol as lawmakers were certifying the election results. Cumulus owns 416 radio stations in 86 markets across the country, along with the syndication arm Westwood One.
CNN SHUFFLES LINEUP
NEW YORK (AP) — The “situation” for Wolf Blitzer is this: he won’t have as much “room” to work on “The Situation Room.” CNN is tweaking its lineup, starting Monday. Among the changes is that Jake Tapper will see his airtime expanded an hour. The means CNN is shaving an hour off Blitzer’s show. Tapper has also been named as CNN’s lead anchor for all Washington-based events. Meanwhile, a rising star at CNN, Abby Philip, has been named senior political correspondent. She will host the Sunday version of “Inside Politics.” And Jim Acosta is moving off the White House beat with the change in administrations. The new head of the White House team is Kaitlan Collins.
