BRIDGEPORT - Two teens have been charged with breaking into Bass Pro Shop and stealing a muzzle- loading rifle they mistook for a shotgun.

Wegueson Simeon, 19, was charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, theft of a firearm and criminal mischief while Dominique Reid, 19, was charged with conspiracy in the same charges.

The two teens, both of Bridgeport, were free on bond.

Police said they responded to a burglary alarm at Bass Pro in the early morning hours of Sept. 4. They said a window had been smashed in and a .50-caliber Triumph Bone Collector muzzle loader valued at $629 was missing from the store’s gun case.

Police said sometime later Simeon’s father reported that he had found a large gun under his son’s bed. The gun was determined to be the one stolen from Bass Pro, police said.

Simeon admitted to the burglary but declined to name his accomplices, police said. However, after reviewing the store’s video surveillance police said they connected Reid to the crime.
