Commissioners approve Airport Expressway economic plan
In a unanimous vote Friday, the Allen County commissioners approved creation of the Airport Expressway South Economic Development Plan.
The plan for the new tax increment financing district contains 13 properties and encompasses 223 acres, County Redevelopment Director Elissa McGauley said. It is west of Fort Wayne International Airport and south of Franklin Electric. The plan was approved in July by the Allen County Redevelopment Commission and the Allen County Plan Commission.
“The allocation area will only collect property tax increment. We don’t envision business personal property tax increment,” McGauley said.
The plan will now return to the Redevelopment Commission for a public hearing and final approval. All three commissioners were present for Friday’s meeting.
