FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ Universal Insurance Holdings Inc. (UVE) on Thursday reported a loss of $48.1 million in its fourth quarter.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based company said it had a loss of $1.54 per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.53 per share.

The property and casualty insurance company posted revenue of $292.7 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $293.1 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $20.4 million, or 65 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.12 billion.

Universal Insurance expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.80 to $2.20 per share.
