H-E-B shredded beef supplier issues recall
Consumers with trays of H-E-B Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce in their fridge or freezer are being urged to throw away or return the product due to possibility of plastic in the product.
Waelder-based J&B Sausage Co., which does business as J Bar B Foods and supplies the beef, issued a recall of 12,816 pounds of shredded beef after a consumer on Wednesday found plastic in it. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Friday.
There were no confirmed reports of injury or adverse reactions due to consumption of the product.
The recall applies to 28-ounce and 16-ounce trays of H-E-B Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce with use by dates of Dec. 15, 2017. The product was produced under the H-E-B label on Sept. 16.
