Grant will fund levee, drainage at Natchez industrial site
NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi’s economic development agency is providing $1.8 million for improvements at an industrial site in the southwestern part of the state.
The money will be used to complete a levee and to provide drainage at the Belwood site near Natchez. A company called Velocys has an option to buy the site for its Bayou Fuels facility, the Natchez Democrat reported.
The company says it will use woody biomass to make sustainable fuel for aviation. The facility is expected to create 100 new jobs.
The grant to Adams County Board of Supervisors and Natchez Inc. is part of Mississippi Development Authority’s select sites program that provides money to prepare industrial sites for prospective companies.
