California mom pleads not guilty in death of her baby
ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — A California mother has pleaded not guilty to killing her 7-month-old daughter after police say she intentionally hit her boyfriend with a car as he held the baby.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says 19-year-old Sarah Gomez entered her plea Monday to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
She was arrested last week.
Ontario police Sgt. Jeff Higbee says Gomez and her boyfriend began arguing after drinking at a family gathering and drove home to Ontario.
Higbee says the boyfriend got out of the car with the baby and that’s when Gomez struck them with the car.
The baby died at a hospital. The father had minor injuries.
