FESTUS, Mo. (AP) — A felony suspect is in custody after allegedly stealing a suburban St. Louis patrol car.

Jefferson County authorities say a deputy stopped at a gas station in Festus Wednesday night and saw the 42-year-old man acting suspiciously. The deputy discovered the man was wanted in St. Charles County on a felony warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.

The deputy took the suspect into custody. While the deputy was away from the car the suspect climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off.
