President Donald Trump planning to be in Arizona next week

April 30, 2020 GMT

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he’s planning to travel to Arizona next week and is looking forward to resuming campaign rallies after spending more than a month mostly cooped up at the White House because of the coronavirus.

Trump also hopes to visit Ohio soon despite the fact that much of the nation remains on some sort of lockdown as the virus continues to spread.

“We’re going to start to move around and hopefully in the not-too-distant future, we’ll have some massive rallies and people will be sitting next to each other,” Trump told reporters during a White House roundtable discussion on the reopening of the economy.

Trump wouldn’t say exactly when he expects to be able to resume his rallies, but said it will depend in part on the state.

The president reportedly will be in visit a Honeywell facility in Phoenix next Tuesday to highlight critical medical equipment production and the addition of 500 manufacturing jobs in Arizona.

Honeywell announced last month that it expects to produce more than six million N95 masks for Arizona over the next year to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Trump was last in Arizona on Feb. 19 for a rally at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
