GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina firefighters rescued a pedestrian who became trapped waist-deep in mud near Charleston.

The Goose Creek Fire Department says its units were called to an area near a Publix grocery store to free him.

The department said on its social media pages that the pedestrian was crossing a median when he became stuck.

Authorities say fire crews used a ladder and backboard to free him. No injuries were reported.

Few other details were immediately released.

Goose Creek is about 18 miles (29 kilometers) northwest of Charleston.
