Nebraska football in danger of losing two more recruits

July 17, 2017 GMT

Deiontae Watts, a touted defensive lineman from Texas, won’t be part of the Nebraska football program any time in the near future according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

A member of the Huskers’ 2017 scholarship recruiting class, Watts hasn’t enrolled at NU and doesn’t plan to do so. Watts reportedly double-signed with NU and Fort Scott, Kansas Community College and his future plans in the sport are unclear. The 6’3, 300-pound Watts, who starred for Plano East High School, was one of four scholarship defensive linemen signed by Nebraska in the class of 2017. Meanwhile, the eligibility status of four-star cornerback Elijah Blades of California, also a member of Nebraska’s 2017 class, remains uncertain. He has yet to report to the NU campus. The lone defensive back in the class, Blades told the Journal Star in May he fully expects to join the team at some point this summer.
