State Rep. Laura Devlin to run for re-election
FAIRFIELD — State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-Fairfield) will run for re-election in November in a bid to represent District 134 for a third term.
Devlin announced her intent to run again on Wednesday, noting that she was proud of what the General Assembly accomplished in its most recent session but that there is much more progress to be made.
“I’ve worked very hard to represent the residents of Fairfield and Trumbull and we have a lot of hard work ahead of us to fix Connecticut’s fiscal crisis,” Devlin said in a statement. “I hear from neighbor after neighbor that they can no longer afford to live in our state and I stand ready to continue to fight for them.”
District 134 represents parts of Fairfield and Trumbull.
Devlin was re-elected to her second term in November 2016, receiving 60 percent of the vote and beating Democrat Fred Garrity of Trumbull. She was first elected to her position in 2014.
Devlin faces at least one opponent in the race for the District 134 seat in the House of Representatives. Trumbull’s Ashley Gaudiano, a Democrat who represents the town’s fourth district on the Town Council, filed to run for the office in December, and formally announced her campaign last week.
