Kentucky reports 1,258 new COVID-19 cases, 20 more deaths

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky reported 1,258 new COVID-19 cases and 20 more virus-related deaths on Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear said.

The rate of Kentucky residents testing positive for the coronavirus was 5.05% Tuesday, up slightly from the day before, the state said. The positivity rate is a key indicator in tracking the virus.

The 1,258 latest virus cases included 317 people age 18 and younger, the statistics showed.

The 20 deaths announced Tuesday raised the state’s virus-related death toll to at least 9,834 since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, the state reported that 776 virus patients were hospitalized in Kentucky, including 239 in intensive care units and 133 on ventilators.
