Havasu residents faked hostage situation, deputies say

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies and Lake Havasu City Police officers responded to the desert outside of Havasu on Saturday after receiving reports of a possible hostage situation. Several people were found leaving the area when officers and deputies arrived, the report said. Upon questioning, the group allegedly told officers they’d been in the desert for a bonfire when another group of people began shooting at them. Through further investigation, deputies and officers allegedly learned the group’s story was false, and that two involved parties had only been involved in a verbal argument. No crime had been committed, the report said.
