Man found shot to death in car on Gateway Arch grounds
ST. LOUIS (AP) — A man was found shot to death early Tuesday inside a bullet-riddled car under the shadow of the famed Gateway Arch, police in St. Louis said.
The shooting was reported around midnight Monday on the monument’s grounds, and officers arrived to find a car crashed on a concrete stairway. Police found the body of a man who had been shot repeatedly, officials said. Police did not immediately release the name of the man or announce any arrests in the shooting.
Gateway Arch National Park officials told television station KSDK that crews were working to clean up debris from the shooting and subsequent crash and that the stairway will remain blocked off. Officials said the monument would still be open to visitors on Tuesday.
