Marvin W. Young, 90, of Cissna Park, passed away Monday (May 7, 2018) at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton.

He was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Joe and Emma Lehmann Young. Marvin married Dorothy Berg on Dec. 20, 1950 in Buckley. She survives, of Cissna Park.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Wayne Young, of Watseka, and Donald “Red” Young, of Cissna Park; one daughter, Beverly (Steve) Kuester, of Cissna Park; one brother, Larry (Karla) Young, of Buckley; one sister, Elizabeth (Steve) Schivley, of Peoria; 10 grandchildren, Cindy Mitchell, Jeffery Young, David Young, Travis Young, Tammi Noonon, Jason Kuester, Vanessa Levan, Neal Kuester, Wayne Lee Stafford and Dorothy Scarbrough; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Leslie, William, Robert and Kenneth; one sister, Wilma Phiffer; one daughter, Connie Whaley; one granddaughter, Michelle Kuester; and two daughters-in-law, Donna Young and Connie Young.


Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cissna Park American Legion and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Touring Association. Marvin was a lifelong farmer and mechanic in the Cissna Park area and enjoyed traveling with his wife on their motorcycle in the lower 48 states as well as in Canada.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. An additional time for visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, until the 11 a.m. funeral services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park. The Rev. Tim Hahn will officiate. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cissna Park, with graveside military rites by Cissna Park American Legion.

Memorials may be made to Cissna Park Fire Department, Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park, or the wishes of the family.
