2 officers escape injury after shooter opens fire on street
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say shots were fired at two Philadelphia police officers who were involved in a drug dealing investigation.
The shooting occurred shortly before midnight Wednesday, as the plainclothes officers were sitting in an unmarked parked car. Authorities say at least three shots were fired at the officers, but they were not hit or injured.
The officers spotted the suspected shooter go inside a nearby home, and a SWAT team was sent to the scene. Four men and a woman eventually came out of the home and were taken into custody, but it wasn’t clear if any of them were the shooter.
It wasn’t clear Thursday if charges had been filed against any of the people who were in the home. Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
