‘Miami Vice’ Star Don Johnson Remarries ‘Working Girl’ Melanie Griffith
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) _ ″Miami Vice″ star Don Johnson and his ex-wife, actress Melanie Griffith, were remarried Monday at their rustic ranch to the strains of a string quartet and the roar of news helicopters.
Johnson, 39, wore a white tuxedo and Ms. Griffith, 31, wore a white lace wedding gown with a train. They were married under a white, flower-entwined arbor in a non-denominational afternoon ceremony attended by about 30 close friends and family, publicist Elliot Mintz said.
″She looked beautiful,″ Mintz said. Ms. Griffith is expecting a child in late September or early October.
Johnson and Ms. Griffith have one young son each by previous relationships. The children served as ring-bearers, Mintz said in a telephone interview.
He had no immediate word on the couple’s honeymoon plans. The ceremony took place eight miles northwest of Aspen at the couple’s Woody Creek Ranch. They also have homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
Ms. Griffith was nominated for an Academy Award for her work in last year’s film ″Working Girl.″
Johnson had hired eight deputies from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department as security for the ceremony, but could not stop news helicopters from buzzing the red ranch home.
″If it was my house, I would have had a complaint, I’ll tell you that,″ said Clifford ″Skitch″ Rounsefell of the sheriff’s department, who supervised security.
He said a few people - apparently fans - were discovered Sunday, crawling up the irrigation ditch leading from an adjoining ranch onto Johnson’s land. They were caught and ordered away.
Johnson and Ms. Griffith were married in 1976 and divorced less than two years later. She also is divorced from actor Steven Bauer.
