Citizen input sought for solid waste services in DeKalb
DeKALB – An online questionnaire is available to evaluate the city’s refuse, recycling and yard waste services ahead of plans to solicit proposals for a new solid waste contract later this year.
The city’s contract with Waste Management Inc. is set to expire at the end of August. Depending on the results of the survey, which is on Survey Monkey, services requested in the proposals might differ from services offered in the current contract.
Since collection services are bundled and all residents must pay the same amount regardless of what services they use, the questionnaire is designed to help staff identify the service residents value the most.
The questionnaire will be available on the DeKalb website through March 5. Residents with limited online access can fill out a paper copy at the DeKalb Municipal Building, 200 S. Fourth St.
The city will also be distributing 1,000 surveys to randomly selected residents. Those who receive the mailed survey must return it in its prepaid envelope or to city hall by March 9.
