HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Police are investigating a double slaying at a West Virginia apartment.

Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial tells news outlets the body of a man and a woman were found at the apartment Tuesday morning. Both had gunshot wounds.

Huntington police identified the victims as 27-year-old Kelli N. Adkins of Wayne and 26-year-old Melvin Courts Jr. of Huntington.

Dial says forensic investigators remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon and interviews were being conducted with several individuals. The chief says he does not believe it was a random act of violence.
