North Carolina man arrested for woman’s stabbing death

HICKORY, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina have arrested a man in connection with a woman’s stabbing death on Christmas Eve.

Hickory police told news outlets say 33-year-old Octavia Deanna Beaty died Monday after she was taken to a local hospital. Police responded to what was believed to be a domestic incident at an apartment around 12:21 a.m. Monday.

Officers said 60-year-old Jerry Lewis Woods was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held without bond in the Catawba County jail. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
