Yonkers Raceway staging 2 Triple Crown events Saturday
YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) — Yonkers Raceway will stage two Triple Crown harness racing events Saturday night, each worth $500,000.
The Yonkers Trot and the Messenger Stakes will highlight the card. It’s the 64th edition of the Yonkers Trot and Messenger Stakes No. 63.
The Trot, which required no elimination heats, has a field of eight: Helpisontheway, Lindsey’s Pride, Lindy’s Big Bang, Six Pack, Maxus, Mississippi Storm, Tito, and The Veteran.
Eleven horses were entered in the Messenger before two elimination heats last weekend. Those were won by Jimmy Freight and Babes Dig Me.
Also in the field are Springsteen, Winston, Topville Olympian, JK Wildfire, Stay Hungry and Nutcracker Sweet.
Saturday night’s card also includes the $129,014 Hudson Filly Trot and the $112,904 Lady Maud Pace, both for 3-year-old mares.
