Loser seeks recount of Detroit mayoral election, MI

DETROIT (AP) — Thrice-defeated Detroit mayoral candidate Tom Barrow is seeking a recount of his most recent political setback.

The Detroit News reports Friday that Barrow has submitted paperwork for a recount of the Nov. 3 general election race against incumbent Dave Bing.

Elections Director Daniel Baxter says Barrow has yet to pay the fee for the recount to go forward.

Barrow also requested a recount following his second-place finish to Bing in the August nonpartisan primary. That was rejected.

Bing won 56 percent of the vote in last week’s election to Barrow’s 41 percent for a four-year term as mayor.

Barrow ran two unsuccessful races against Mayor Coleman A. Young in the 1980s.
