Memorial Hermann Katy opens new 24-hour Pediatric Emergency Center
Katy parents now have more emergency facility choices for “round-the-clock care” for their feverish children.
Memorial Hermann Katy, located at 23960 Katy Freeway, has opened a new 24-hour Pediatric Emergency Center where Katy area parents can take their children who might be feeling unwell.
The emergency center, which is open seven days a week, “complements the hospital’s new dedicated pediatric inpatient unit and helps meet the need for specialized, round-the-clock pediatric emergency care in Katy and the greater west Houston area,” according to a new release.
Heath Rushing, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital. said the pediatric center is needed to keep up with the growth in the Katy area.
“As Katy continues to grow, it needs more access points for round-the-clock care, available for all ages, closer to home,” Rushing said in a statement. “Emergency medical situations occur at every hour of the day and how those are addressed can differ between adults and children. We are able to provide emergency care for all ages at all hours.”

Parents may need to take their children to an emergency center for a myriad of reasons, including if the child is having trouble breathing, has a bone fracture, lost consciousness, the child is burned or if the child has uncontrollable bleeding.
In some instances, high fevers, allergic reactions, ingested objects, severe prolonged headaches, coughing, and vomiting and/or diarrhea may require emergency care, but typically can be addressed by an Urgent Care or pediatrician, the release said.
Pediatric primary care is available on the Memorial Hermann Katy campus through Memorial Hermann Medical Group and Blue Fish Pediatrics Katy, and in the surrounding area through Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Katy and Memorial Hermann Medical Group Firethorne, the release said.
