Alec Baldwin blasts Dana Loesch’s NRA show: ‘Second Amendment is not a moral credit card’
Entertainer and activist Alec Baldwin lashed out at the National Rifle Association this week in response to an ad for its upcoming show.
The eponymous host of ABC’s “Sundays With Alec Baldwin” made it clear on Monday that he won’t be watching NRATV’s latest project with spokeswoman Dana Loesch. The actor, after having watched her ad on “Hollywood phonies” and “late night hosts,” said she would step over “dead bodies” in pursuit of the truth.
“Your Time is running out. The clock starts now,” Ms. Loesch says in promotional material shared on the NRATV website and its social media feeds.
“I see that @DLoesch wants to ‘take back the truth,’” Mr. Baldwin responded on Twitter. “And she doesn’t care how many dead bodies she has to step over in that pursuit. The Second Amendment is not a moral credit card that buys you all the guns you want. That law needs to be rethought.”

Hundreds of readers responded to the actor’s message.
“Sorry. That is not a ‘law,‘” wrote one man. “It is a ‘right’ that is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.”
“How many firearms a citizen purchases is none of YOUR business,” added another. “Besides, a guy like you whose behavior/life is often in shambles, is in no position to tell anyone ELSE what to do.”
The actor’s supporters said that Ms. Loesch is a “liar” whose employment with the NRA is predicated on “greed.”
Mr. Baldwin’s new show debuted as a “sneak preview” after Sunday’s Academy Awards. Comedians Jerry Seinfeld and Kate McKinnon joined the actor, whose “Up Late with Alec Baldwin” on MSNBC lasted five episodes in 2013.
