This week’s new movies: Asian comedy, Wahlberg action and Ice Age adventure

The first movie with an all-Asian cast and directed by an Asian in 25 years is joined by a Mark Wahlberg action-flick and a prehistoric adventure among new movies this weekend.

‘Crazy Rich Asians’

This romantic comedy is based on the best-seller about a New York woman (Constance Wu of “Fresh Off the Boat”) heading to Singapore to meet her boyfriend’s family.

‘Mile 22’

A buff Mark Wahlberg plays an intelligence officer who must smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive secrets out of the country.

‘Alpha’

Have you ever wondered what it looked like during the Ice Age? Wonder how humans survived the conditions? That’s the story of this adventure tale starring Kodi Smit-McPhee.
