International Success Story - Meet Celebrity Talent Agent Siavash Aghaiepour
Los Angeles, CA (
) -- 29 Sep 2020
Siavash ‘Sia’ Aghaiepour is from a Persian background and grew up in Heidelberg, Germany, which was influenced by the first Hip Hop movement in Germany. US troops presence in Germany helped to inspire Sia through the experiences of playing basketball with the US kids and listening to the music they played. In 2007 Sia moved to the U.S. Inspiration for Sia came from many places like traveling to Las Vegas, seeing Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes performing on stage, going to Club Tunnel with Funkmaster Flex and the Big Dawg Pitbulls and going to Magic show parties in Las Vegas with DJ Kid Capri and DJ S&S. Seeing DJ perform as they brought energy and emotion to the crowd gave Sia the desire to bring that same performance back home.
Sia started out as a party promoter bringing mixtape and Hot97 DJs to parties in order to take a different approach from other promoters. Those DJs eventually grew into fame and began working with artists such as Eminem and 50 Cent. While doing a tour in Europe for Eminem and 50 Cent, DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Green Latern contacted Sia to organize the afterparties for these artists. This led to a lasting relationship between the music artists and their management, which is how Sia became involved as a respected and prominent talent agent in the music industry.
The thing that inspires Siavash aghaiepour to work with an artist is their mentality and attitude. Rather than choose artists based on being Major or Indie, Sia looks to bring something fresh and new to their audience. Sia has worked with several artists before they blew up, such as Pitbull, French Montana and Lil’ Jon. One of the most difficult situations in Sia’s career was when a promoter had many artists come to perform at a show in Angola, but never came up with the money to pay the artists. This put Sia in a position of not paying the artists, because of a possible scam or paying out of their own pocket. In order to keep their name clean Sia paid out of pocket, which was difficult in the face of financial struggles, but beneficial long term.
Sia enjoys being able to meet and connect with new people, while being able to open doors for artists and help them to accomplish new things. Siavash Aghaiepour also enjoys taking the artists to new places and introducing them to a fanbase they have never had before. Sia’s least liked experience of being an agent is dealing with artists who take things for granted, don’t appreciate the things done for them, entitlement and artists who don’t see that their place in life comes from the love of their fans.
While not having anyone in particular that Sia would consider a mentor, there are many artists and DJs who have helped along the way and allowed Sia to reach different goals. If Sia could change anything about the Music Industry it would be to return it to an environment full of appreciation that is about building connections with people rather than everything being purely about business.
The name of Siavash Aghaiepour’s and his brother Roozbeh Aghaie Pour company, Heavy Rotation Booking, was created in the late 90s/early 2000s as a promoter in Berlin bringing big name DJs into rotation every month for parties. When the eventually evolved into a booking company Sia decided to keep the name. At a young age Sia worked at a Footlocker, which was a job that taught how to learn what a client desires and sell them the appropriate product that makes them happy. This knowledge became useful as a booking agent in understanding an artist’s needs and helping them to accomplish something that will make them happy. The many different jobs Sia had taught them that they wanted to be independent, creative and to work on their own terms, which led to the business mindset that Sia currently has. Siavash Aghaiepour’s favorite artists are Sade and Morteza Pashaei, because they are able to sing in a way that is more than entertainment and reaches the soul of the listener.
