Breese Stevens a summer music destination

May 27, 2018 GMT

Between baseball games, bodegas and food inspired festivals, Breese Stevens Field is one hot spot in Madison’s summers.

In June, July and September visitors have the chance to see a wide variety of musicians with an even wider array of price ranges.

But Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers will kick off the concert series with a bang. This rock concert is part of their “The Summer of Living Dangerously” tour and these rock stars are sure to heat things up even before the Wisconsin summer heat really sets in.

Less than a week later, on June 22, comes REO Speedwagon whose popular hits like “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “Keep On Loving You” are still earworms. Guest artists Sara Evans and A Thousand Horses will also be in attendance.

Just after the Fourth of July festivities comes Ray LaMontagne with special guest Neko Case on July 6. LaMontagne’s current tour, “Part of the Light,” coincides with his latest studio album of the same name which came out on May 18.

Finally the band behind hits like “Mr. Jones” and “Accidentally In Love,” Counting Crows, rounds out the summer concert series. Madison is one of the very last stops of their 2018 “25 Years & Counting” tour.
