Poets Kelly Sexton, Georgia Lundeen to read at Blue Heron

The Laureate Writers Series will feature La Crosse poets Kelly Sexton and Georgia Lundeen reading at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at The Blue Heron Coffeehouse, 162 W. Second St. Kelly Sexton will read from her new book “vodka-mountain,” and Georgia Lundeen will read from her new book “Spare,” both published by Vegetarian Alcoholic Press, Milwaukee. The reading will be followed by an open mic, with an optional theme of “winter.” Remember to keep what you read to 5 minutes.

Sexton is a graduate of Viterbo University and has an MFA in Writing and Poetics from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, Naropa University, where she was poetry editor of Bombay Gin, Naropa’s literary magazine. Her work has been published in a variety of journals.

Lundeen’s poetry is laced with traditional rhyme and meter. Her work sparkles and challenges. Her first children’s book, “Love Like Us,” with Alexandra L. Hemrick, was published in 2014. “Spare” is her first full-length collection of poetry.

This event is co-sponsored by Winona’s Fine Arts Commission and The Blue Heron and is free and open to the public.
