DALLAS (AP) _ The career of Dallas Mavericks player Roy Tarpley, kicked out of the the NBA on Wednesday:

1986 _ Dallas Mavericks select Tarpley in first round of NBA draft, seventh overall.

1987 _ Named to NBA’s 1986-1987 All-Rookie team.

1987 _ In the offseason, Tarpley voluntarily submits for treatment for alcohol and chemical abuse, ``strike one″ under the NBA drug program. A third strike would mean an automatic two-year suspension from the NBA without pay.

1988 _ Tarpley wins the 1987-1988 NBA Sixth Man Award, the first reserve in NBA history to finish among the league’s top 10 rebounders. Had two 20-rebound games against the Lakers in the 1988 conference finals.

January 1989 _ Tarpley receives ``strike two″ in the NBA’s anti-drug program after he tells league drug counselors he needs help to control his drug problem. He receives indefinite suspension without pay. Tarpley attends the ASAP Family Treatment Program, returns to action April 12.

October 1989 _ Tarpley disappears for 24 hours, missing a Mavericks practice.

November 1989 _ Tarpley is arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, is suspended from NBA by drug counselors. Tarpley is the NBA’s leading rebounder at the time of his suspension.

January 1990 _ Tarpley is reinstated to Mavericks after missing 34 games and being fined $240,000.

March 1990 _ Tarpley misses a team flight.

April 1990 _ Tarpley is suspended indefinitely without pay for missing a Mavericks practice and a daily aftercare visit. Tarpley subsequently tests negative for cocaine and alcohol use.

September 1990 _ Tarpley pleads guilty to Nov. 1989 charges of drunken driving, and prosecutors drop charge of resisting arrest. Tarpley is put on two years’ probation.

November 1990 _ Tarpley sustains a season-ending knee injury.

March 1991 _ Tarpley is arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, charged with felony DWI.

April 1991 _ Tarpley is suspended indefinitely without pay by his drug aftercare program after admitting having three beers before his March arrest.

May 1991 _ Tarpley is arrested in Houston after a woman claiming to be his girlfriend tells police the player beat her up.

August 1991 _ A judge agrees to drop the May charge against Tarpley after the woman he is accused of beating refused to cooperate with prosecutors.

Sept. 4, 1991 _ Tarpley is acquitted of drunken driving charges.

Sept. 4, 1991 _ Judge declines to revoke Tarpley’s probation on 1989 DWI conviction.

Sept. 26, 1991_Tarpley participates in his first full-contact basketball game since suffering a serious knee injury last November.

Oct. 13, 1991 _ Tarpley misses practice and team meal because of an undisclosed personal problem.

Oct. 14, 1991 _ Tarpley shows up for morning practice, but leaves abruptly without talking to other players or Mavericks officials. Club says Tarpley will be fined daily until he returns. A Houston drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic, where Tarpley is an outpatient, notifies club officials that Tarpley wants to talk to counselors for the clinic.

Oct. 15, 1991 _ Club is told that clinic wants to keep Tarpley longer.

Oct. 16, 1991 _ NBA announces that Tarpley refused to take drug test and has been banned from the league.

July 3, 1992 _ Left the United States Basketball League, where he was playing for the Miami Tropics, to sign a two-year contract to play in Greece.

July 21, 1992 _ Named MVP of the USBL.

Sept. 30, 1994 _ Reinstated by NBA commisioner David Stern.

Oct. 6, 1994 _ Signed six-year contract with Dallas Mavericks.

Oct. 29, 1994 _ Ticketed for driving 92 mph on a Dallas tollway. Less than an hour later, his Mercedes strikes a utility pole. Tarpley said he was not behind the wheel at the time and had lent the car to a friend.

Dec. 16, 1994 _ Suspended without pay for a game with Boston after cursing at Mavericks coach Dick Motta when he was taken out of a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nov. 3, 1995 _ Placed on suspended list when a pancreas ailment prevented him from completing a team physical.

Nov. 6, 1995 _ Transferred to injured list.

Dec. 6, 1995 _ Banned from NBA for using alcohol, which violated terms of his aftercare agreement.
