Tenants displaced by fire at Fargo apartment building
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A fire has caused heavy damage to a Fargo apartment building and left its tenants without a home.
The three-alarm fire Sunday destroyed the roof of the 24-unit building and spread rapidly because of wind gusts of more than 30 mph.
One firefighter received minor injuries when part of a stairwell ceiling collapsed as firefighters searched the building to make sure all tenants had evacuated, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were able to rescue some, but not all pets. The Red Cross is assisting residents with temporary housing, KFGO reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fargo firefighters were assisted by the Moorhead Fire Department and Fargo police.
