2 men killed in Indianapolis camping trailer identified

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Two men killed when a camping trailer parked outside a vacant Indianapolis store caught fire have been identified.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the men as 67-year-old John Hren and his brother, 62-year-old Vincent Hren.

An employee at a neighboring Walmart store on the city’s northwest side noticed smoke and called 911 late Monday night.

The Pike Township Fire Department said that after firefighters extinguished the fire, the bodies of two men were discovered inside the motorhome.

A kerosene space heater placed too close to combustibles has been ruled the cause of the fire, The Indianapolis Star reported.

Typically, such heaters should only be used in a well-ventilated area far away from anything that can easily catch fire, Pike Township Division Chief Fire Marshal Jonathan Kempler said.
