Downtown Los Angeles building fire injures 1
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A fire in a restaurant being renovated on the ground floor of a downtown Los Angeles high-rise injured one person and sent smoke into upper floors on Monday, authorities said.
The fire was quickly extinguished and one person from inside the restaurant was transported to a hospital with burn injuries, according to Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
No one else inside the building immediately required medical aid but firefighters were continuing to check on occupants calling from various units.
Firefighters cleared all elevators in the building and workers on the roof were escorted down stairwells.
