Florida deputies fatally shoot man during confrontation
OCALA, Fla. (AP) — Deputies in north Florida fatally shot a man after he refused to drop his weapon during a confrontation, officials said.
Three Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call about shots being fired on Monday night found a dead man in a driveway. As they were investigating, a man armed with a shotgun approached them, the agency said in a Facebook post.
They told the man to put down the gun, but he refused and confronted the deputies.
At least one deputy fired at the man, who died of his injuries, the agency said.
The deputies, who were not injured, were placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Officials have not released the names of the two men or the deputies. They have also not said what happened to the man who was dead in the driveway.
