December 28, 2017 GMT

The All-Northern Section football team was released on Wednesday, and a total of 10 local standouts earned spots among the section’s best in a vote compiled by media members from the Appeal-Democrat, Chico Enterprise-Record, Redding Record Searchlight and MaxPreps.

Topping the list of those earning all-section honors was Sutter High defensive end Tyler Gillming, who was voted by media outlets as the section’s Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Gillming, the Butte View League’s Defensive MVP, finished his senior year with 77 tackles to go with team highs of 21 tackles for loss and 11 acks. Gillming was voted to the second team last season, and joins former Husky linebackers Logan Hungrige (2016), Ryan Staas (2012) and Ben Turner (1999) as Sutter players to take home the section’s defensive MVP award.
