FHP: One dead; all southbound lanes closed on I-95 in Fort Pierce

8 a.m. update:Nearly five hours after the wreck, crews have cleared the fatal crash beforeIndrio Roadsouthbound on Interstate 95, theFlorida Department of Transportationis reporting.

Lanes are opening, as well, according to FDOT.

7 a.m. update:A driver was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer early Monday after exiting his or her car and going on to Interstate 95 near Fort Pierce, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver exited the vehicle after drifting from the roadway and hitting a light pole, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky. The driver was in the road when the tractor-trailer hit him or her.

Two lanes are expected to open soon, Wysocky said.

6:35 a.m. update:TheFlorida Highway Patrolis reporting at least one person is dead after the early morning wreck on Interstate 95 in Fort Pierce.

ORIGINAL POST:An wreck early Monday closed all southbound lanes on Interstate 95 in Fort Pierce and left at least one person injured, according to theFlorida Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3:20 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It involved a car and a tractor-trailer, the Post’snews partners WPTVis reporting.

TheSt. Lucie County Sheriff’s Officesaid the southbound lanes are closed at State Road 60 in Indian River County.
