UConn coach Geno Auriemma to miss second straight game with stomach virus
WICHITA, Kan. — UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma will miss his second consecutive game with a stomach virus, the school announced. The Huskies visit Wichita State Tuesday (7:30 ET).
“Based on my doctor’s recommendations, I’ve decided it’s in my best interest to stay home and fully recuperate,” Auriemma said in a release. “I look forward to being back on the sideline at 100 percent this weekend.”
Auriemma also was absent for the Huskies’ 68-49 victory over Tulsa on Sunday. It was just the eighth game during his 34-year career that he’s missed.
Associate head coach Chris Dailey will again lead the team in Auriemma’s absence.
With a victory, the second-ranked Huskies (25-2, 13-0) will clinch their sixth straight American Athletic Conference title.
The Huskies return home Saturday (1 p.m.) to face Houston for Senior Day at Gampel Pavilion.
