2 men die in weekend crash in northeast Nebraska
MADISON, Neb. (AP) — Authorities have identified the two Grand Island men who died in a crash in northeast Nebraska over the weekend.
The Madison County Sheriff’s office said a van driving south on U.S. Highway 81 Saturday slid on black ice and veered into oncoming traffic. The van turned onto its passenger side before being struck by a pickup truck around 5:20 p.m. Saturday killing both occupants of the van.
The Sheriff’s office said 25-year-old Dario Garcia Tercero and 26-year-old Rosilio Renato De Pas both died in the crash. They were both from Grand Island.
The 22-year-old driver of the pickup from Madison, Nebraska, was treated at nearby hospital for his injuries and released.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for about four hours after the crash.
