Habitat for Humanity in need of board members
While Habitat for Humanity spends many hours working to improve the living conditions of others, right now there is another mission.
Tony Wolfe, the local chapter Habitat For Humanity board director, said filling board positions is high on Habitat’s priority list right now.
“We don’t have a certain number of board members we have to have,” Wolfe said. “We usually have six to eight board members and we had some people who have moved on to other things, leaving some openings and we would like to fill that.”
Wolfe said the whole idea behind getting additional board members is to see the organization on to the next generation.
’It’s important that we have some people to cycle into the program to help maintain what we do,” Wolfe said.
Wolfe said a house is usually built every other year, but at this point the organization is in the process of raising funds to construct the house.
“We hope to begin it this fall and finish it off next spring,” Wolfe said
Wolfe said the start of a new home depends on whether people volunteer to become part of the board or steering committee.
“I would like to see others get involved,” Wolfe said.
Wolfe said at this time the board has a few openings to fill and would like to see this done so that the organization can stay viable in years to come.
