Mary Taylor to pick Hamilton executive as running mate

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Republican Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor on Wednesday will announce a Hamilton-area executive as her running mate for her gubernatorial campaign.

Taylor plans to name Nathan Estruth, chief executive officer of iMFLUX, an injection molding company, according to a source close to the campaign.

Estruth received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA and attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He is a former vice-president of Proctor & Gamble FutureWorks.

Estruth’s LinkedIn profile shows he was on the board of directors for the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian-values advocacy group that the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as an anti-LGBT hate group.

Estruth is also the former president of Common Sense Ohio, a group aligned with former GOP Secretary of State Ken Blackwell that ran ads critical of Democratic then-U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland during the 2006 governor’s race.

The Taylor campaign declined to comment on the selection. Estruth did not respond to request for comment.
