CARROLL SHERIFF ENTERS DRUG REHAB PROGRAM
Carroll County Sheriff Jamie Kinman entered a drug rehabilitation facility over the weekend. The department’s Chief Deputy Rodney Hawkins will manage the office in Kinman’s absence. Kentucky State Police Public Information Officer Josh Brashears in Frankfort confirmed Monday that there is an open investigation of Kinman, but Brashears declined to comment about the nature of the investigation or when it was opened. In a statement, Judge-Executive Bobby Lee Westrick has said that Kinman has not resigned nor has he been removed from office. Kinman, who has served as sheriff since 2010, was acquitted in December of a November 2014 charge of tampering with physical evidence and altering an official form used to document chain of custody of criminal evidence, including prescription hydrocodone and Xanax pills that had been seized during a traffic stop.
