Billings police ID suspect in fatal hit-and-run crash
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Police have identified the vehicle and suspected driver in a New Year’s Day hit-and-run crash that killed a 66-year-old pedestrian in Billings.
Lt. Brandon Wooley said Sunday the driver was a 22-year-old man from Billings, but no arrests have been made. The Billings Gazette reports the investigation remains ongoing, and the suspect identification comes fewer than 24 hours after the police department put out a call for help from the public.
Investigators say debris and surveillance video led them to believe a maroon, 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was the vehicle that hit and killed the Billings woman as she walked along Rimrock Road at night.
The woman, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.
