GHS girls hockey edges Hall/Conard
With the regular season winding down and the postseason rapidly approaching the Greenwich High School girls ice hockey team continues to be at its best.
The Cardinals added another significant win to their ledger on Saturday night, edging Hall/Conard, 2-1, at Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink.
The win upped Greenwich’s record to 11-2-4 with two games remaining in the regular season.
Emma Wingrove scored the game-winning goal with 7:45 remaining in the third period. Crashing the net, Wingrove knocked in a rebound off Katie Piotrzkowski’s shot from the point, giving GHS a 2-1 lead.
Greenwich tied the score at 1-1 on Jennifer Kelly’s power play goal with 6:22 left in the second period. Receving a pass from Piotrzkowski, Kelly went top shelf with her wrister from the slot.
Hall/Conard scored the game’s first goal with 13:33 to go in the second period. Jessica Ware also sparked the win, making 27 saves. Greenwich hosts Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
