Authorities investigate 3 Missouri deaths at 2 locations
NEOSHO, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in southwest Missouri are investigating the deaths of three people in two locations, and said the deaths are related.
Newton County Sheriff’s deputies discovered the body of Brylee O’Banion, 25, in a ditch along a road in Loma Linda on Saturday. Investigators have not said how O’Banion was killed but are investigating her death as a homicide.
Investigators were searching for two people who recently had been with O’Banion, and that led to Jasper County, Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings said.
Jasper County authorities were called to a home in Avilla on Sunday evening and found the bodies of Mason McClure, 34, who lived at the home, and Nicole Hodges, 34, of Joplin. Autopsies determined they had been shot to death, The Joplin Globe reported.
O’Banion’s boyfriend, Kevin Johnson, 24, of Reeds, was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Avilla deaths.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s office said no other suspects are being sought in the Avilla deaths.
Further information on the investigation was not released.
