Pittsburgh police: South Side shooting victim wasn’t intended target
A man who was shot in the head last week in Pittsburgh’s South Side Flats was likely not the intended target, according to police.
The rush-hour shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Dec. 19 along Second Avenue, police said. Officers found the shooting victim — a passenger in a white Nissan Altima — on South Water Street.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. An update on the man’s condition was not available Wednesday.
Investigators don’t believe the victim or driver was targeted in the shooting, according to a news release from Public Safety spokeswoman Alicia George.
George said the case remains under investigation, and police urge anyone who saw or heard anything on Second Avenue around the time of the shooting to call the homicide unit at 412-323-7161.
