Nearly $2,500 worth of equipment stolen from tree service
HUNTINGTON — The following information was provided by reports from the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office:
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: Someone stole nearly $2,500 worth of equipment from a work truck sometime between Friday evening and Tuesday morning while it was parked behind a store in the 1800 block of U.S. 60.
The truck belonged to a tree service. Stolen items included two chain saws, two ropes, a safety harness, a hoist and some work chaps.
The company’s foreman in charge told deputies he discovered the items were missing after he found the toolboxes had been broken open. Deputies had no known suspects at the time of the report.

The Hunti ng ton Police Department listed 11 new incident reports in the 24-hour period ending at 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to a printout released by the department. However, the individual police reports were not made available, so these are the only known details:

Disorderly conduct, 8:48 p.m. Tuesday, 300 block of 9th Street.

Burglary, entry of dwelling or outhouse, 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, 400 block of Washington Avenue.
Misdemeanor destruction of property, attempt to commit felony, breaking and entering automobile, 10 p.m. Jan. 18, 1300 block of Neel Street.
Petit larceny, automobile theft, 10 p.m. Friday, 1300 block of 6th Avenue.
Grand larceny, misdemeanor destruction of property, breaking and entering automobile, 4 p.m. Monday, 500 block of Kinetic Drive.
Petit larceny, 10:30 a.m. Monday, 1000 block of 3rd Avenue.
Possession of a controlled substance, warrant execution, 3:37 a.m. Tuesday, 500 block of Kinetic Drive.
Trespassing, disorderly conduct, 2:53 a.m. Tuesday, 700 block of 6th Avenue.
Battery, 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, 400 block of West 5th Avenue.
The following information was provided by booking records at the Western Regional Jail:
Steven Ray McCarthy, 28, was jailed at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Wayne County charged him with possession of a controlled substance, and authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice, shoplifting and petit larceny. Bond was $5,000 in Wayne County and $2,000 in Cabell County.
Crystal Leigh Rogers, 41, was jailed at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities in Mason County charged her with forgery. Bond was not set.
Cassandra Spurlock, 25, was jailed at 8:58 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged her with burglary, petit larceny, destruction of property and possession of a controlled substance. She was also jailed on two active warrants. Bond was not set.
Paul Edward Tufts, 50, was jailed at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Cabell County charged him with being a fugitive from justice. Bond was not set.
Charles Lathey, 57, was jailed at midnight Tuesday. Authorities in Mason County charged him with third-offense driving revoked for DUI, passing in a no-passing zone, fleeing with reckless indifference and fleeing on foot. Bond was $50,000.
Daniel Richard Plants II, 44, was jailed at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities in Mason County charged him with a home confinement revocation. Bond was not set.
