JOAN MARIE SAUER NAUM, 81, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va. She was born on August 21, 1936, and raised in Huntington, the only child of the late George and Mazie (Wolf) Sauer. In her youth Joan was an accomplished pianist and artist. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Joe’s Academy in Huntington. After marrying her husband, Bunny Naum, she became a homemaker and beloved mother. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Junior League of Wheeling. Joan was an avid card player, including bridge and euchre. She loved gardening, arts and crafts and traveling with the OPALS group. Joan is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. George P. “Bunny” Naum Jr. of Wheeling, W.Va.; sons, Dr. George P. “Jeep” Naum III (Vanessa) of Wheeling, W.Va., Dr. Scott Naum (Jennifer) of Williamstown, W.Va., Chris Naum (Nicole) of Wellington, Fla.; daughters, Sheila Bernhard of Wheeling, W.Va., Jenny Jewell (Rob) of Wheeling, W.Va.; twelve grandchildren, Rebecca, Nicholas, Ryan, Chelsey, Matthew, Megan, R.J, Alexander, Jenna, Chantal, George P. “Phillip” Naum IV and Connor. To celebrate Joan’s life, friends were received on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-232-2732), with a Vigil at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 9 a.m. with Fr. Richard Shoda as celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va. Personal condolences may be made to the family at
