IDGOP Chairman Steve Yates announces new executive director from Power County

BOISE - Idaho Republican Party Chairman Steve Yates announced today that Lyndel Strong has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Idaho GOP. Strong will take over for current Executive Director David Johnston.

“David has served the Idaho GOP with distinction. He is well respected, and was instrumental in the record-setting success we had in 2016.” Chairman Yates said, “While we’ll miss David, we are confident in Lyndel Strong to carry the torch forward. She will do an excellent job in taking our party to the next level as we prepare for 2018.”

“It has been a humbling honor serving as executive director, and I want to thank Chairman Steve Yates for his leadership and this opportunity” said David Johnston. “Lyndel is a great choice to take over as Executive Director. She has the energy and the leadership needed to take our party to new heights. I look forward to seeing her excel in this new role.”


Lyndel Strong, 26, currently a resident of Meridian, grew up in Power County and has a bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University. Strong has been actively involved with the IDGOP in the past, serving as a volunteer, Power County Youth Chair, State Resolutions Committee Secretary, 2012 Bannock County HQ director, and Young Republican Chairman.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve the Idaho GOP and plan to put in the effort needed to help the party continue to have success!” said Strong, “We have a lot to celebrate right now but also have a lot of work to do to prepare for 2018 in order to ensure we as a party are successful.”

Johnston’s last day and Strong’s first day with the Party will be April 17.
