Kansas City woman sentenced in fatal DWI crash
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after a fatal crash that occurred while she was driving drunk, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office said.
Tonya Rolf, 54, was sentenced Thursday in the Dec. 28, 2019 crash that killed 57-year-old Rob Heslop of Independence.
Rolf pleaded guilty in November to drinking while intoxicated involving the death of another person.
Witnesses told investigators a vehicle driven by Rolf crossed into the other lane on a Kansas City street and hit a pickup that Heslop was riding in head-on.
Court documents state Rolf had high levels of alcohol and Benzoylecgonine in her system. Benzoylecgonine is found in people after their body breaks down cocaine.
