Ex-Hammond police officer gets 15 years for sex with a child
HAMMOND, La. (AP) — A former police officer in Louisiana has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a child, prosecutors said.
Brad Core, 47, of Tickfaw, pleaded guilty Tuesday before state District Judge Jeffrey Johnson to felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, oral sexual battery, sexual battery and aggravated crime against nature, Tangipahoa Parish District Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux said. The term is to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, Perrilloux’s office said.
Upon completion, Core is required to register as a sex offender.
Core resigned his patrol officer post with the Hammond Police Department after his arrest in 2018. A sheriff’s office investigation found that Core participated in illegal sexual activities with a child younger than 13, Perrilloux’s office said. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Core surrendered to authorities.
